Name: Prompto Argentum
Series: Final Fantasy 15
Timeline: At the beginning of Chapter One.
Canon Resource Links: http://finalfantasy.wikia.com/wiki/Prompto_Argentum
Original Character Background: n/a
Personality:
Prompto is a man who masks his true self though smiles. To those who know him - well or not - he seems like a big goofball who jokes and makes bad choices. However, this is all a big act. Even if it's most of his life. Every movement he makes is one which he has considered for a while - or one which he can't stop thinking about afterwards. For he sees his biggest goal as cheering up other people, moreso then worrying for himself. As he was a lonely child, he tends to seek approval from others quite a bit. But to others, he seems like sunshine bottled up in a gentle body.
However, there are a few things that Prompto does enjoy fully for himself - such as videogames and technology, but the largest is photography. For he enjoys being with others and seeing the world, and also looking back on what he's seen before. If he could, Prompto would want to be a professional - but he's been pulled into something far more important. Prompto is also quite a fan of technology, being one of those people who spends a lot of time on his phone. Thus, he'll most likely be able to adapt to having a PokeGear and camping out quite a bit. He's also quite into animals - especially pets - and will enjoy having Pokemon quite a bit - a world where people work with these weird monsters. In other words, the world of Pokemon is basically a dream come true.
That is, except for Pokeballs. Prompto is not a fan of small spaces (or bugs), and will worry for his Pokemon allies in such a space. If asked, however, Prompto will laugh it off. When he's uncomfortable about something, that's what he tends to do - re-direct to something else or make a joke about it, hiding his own feelings. (He doesn't, however, tend to get that hurt by comments - because he tends to pretend to be a lot more cheerful then he really is.)
In his travels, he is with people who were born of a higher class then him - and, quite a lot of the time, Prompto has deep-seated issues with this. Feeling as if he doesn't belong, as a man born in the country they war against. Unlike them, he's had no kind of personal training - and as such, doesn't have as much endurance. However, even though he has his Thoughts on people who are better then him, that's not to say Prompto feels 100% worthless. No, he sees his worth as being able to lighten the load of Noctis (and his friends) if only a little.
Prompto is also a very determined fellow - determined not just to prove his worth to the world, but to himself. He made himself fit (even a little too thin) simply because he was asked to become the friend of Noctis, due to a single comment made by his to-be best friend. And, hey. He was going to be camping out a lot before arriving in this world - even if he might complain a little (for he is not used to this life), Prompto will be having the time of his life in this world.
To sum it up, Prompto is a man who tries his best, even if the world seems to be crazy and against him.
Pokémon Information
Affiliation: Trainer.
Starter: I would like to make a case for him to get Type: Null as a starter. This is one of the reasons this is linked.
In Promptos' past, he was a test subject for becoming a Magitek Knight, a person/daemon encased in armour for massive strength. However, he was let free of this life though methods he's not even sure of at his canon point - not even knowing he's a MK, but still knowing he's not fully human somehow. Meanwhile, Type: Null was a failed experiment to make a weapon to fight otherworldly beasts - but must wear a helm, or will snap and attack. Both Prompto and Null have that connection - having to hide things about themselves so that they can exist with other people, and both being failed experiments of a sort.

Victory Road Sample:
Prompto was camping out. He had been ready to camp with the others, but... he was alone now. With just him, his strange helmed beast, and... his thoughts. He had been browsing though posts on the PokeGear for a lot of the evening, trying to ignore that little voice inside. The one which told him he had been discarded.
No. Others had come here - even if he was alone, whatever Gods ruled this place had chosen him. Not the actual Prince, not the Guardian, and not his Shield. They chose the odd one out. (According to others, there was no meaning behind who arrived or didn't. He knew that, but he couldn't stop thinking... what if there was, and he didn't know it?)
Him. The one who couldn't do anything. His hands gripped themselves harder and harder, as he continued to browse though the posts, looking at what others had said over the past day or so. A badge victory for one, some eggs from another - perhaps he could get an egg and see if it would make for another good Pokemon.
Those who were here before him bred Pokemon with strong moves, ones he couldn't dream of getting. He couldn't be that strong - even if he practiced, wouldn't those who'd gotten here before get stronger? What was his purpose here?
Maybe he could try out the other functions of this PokeGear to distract from these thoughts. As the screen lit up his face, his Type: Null then flopped on his lap - the one covered in his sleeping bag. "Oof-- friend?"
Prompto hadn't chosen a good name for his friend yet. But he couldn't call her Type: Null - no, that sounded wrong out of his lips. But as the dog-creature began to rub at his arm - at his barcode - Prompto pushed the beast away.
"You know I don't like that."
As he fiddled with the radio, he gave a soft sigh, putting on a smile. Perhaps he can send out a text - you know, see if anybody's up for talking. But his fingers lingered. What if he woke them? The cold moon lingered above him. (At least it wasn't too cold. He didn't want to think of how bad it could get, even if his mind turned back to it.)
And so, he sent out a text - maybe somebody else couldn't sleep right now, or had put their phone on mute.
...There. That should do it. Flopping to his side - quite difficult with a Null rolling all over him - he let out a sigh. As long as he appeared happy in the text, he could pretend he's not sleepless for his own thoughts.
